Bad news David, even your mum hates the show

YOU know things are bad when even your own mum won’t stick around and stand up for you.
That’s what happened to David Walliams on Wednesday when he tried to stem the tide of bad reviews for ITV’s The Nightly Show, and placate those who want the News At Ten reinstated.
‘My mum is in the audience tonight,’ an optimistic Walliams told viewers and his guest Rob Brydon. ‘Hello mum. Are you enjoying the show?’ he asked Kathleen.
He soon regretted it when she failed to stick to the script.
‘So far…’ she replied cautiously. But quickly added: ‘It’s a shame that they’ve moved the news. I did like the news.’ Gutted, Walliams told her: ‘Not you as well mum!’
Things got worse when she left halfway through. Brydon asked ‘Where’s she gone?’ ‘She’s left’, confirmed Walliams.
He might want to thank his mum though because ratings rose slightly to 1.83million for the programme, up from just over 1million the night before.
It’s a small improvement from Monday’s opener that baffled and annoyed many viewers.
One tweeted: ‘ITV put my news back where it belongs and don’t insult me with the rubbish that is The Nightly Show.’ Still the pain Walliams feels has been softened by the £50,000-a-night fee he earns.
