Where Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux just friends?

JENNIFER ANISTON and Justin Theroux announced their shock split last week — now speculation is rife they were not legally married.

The couple tied the knot at their Bel-Air mansion in August 2015 but it has been claimed the union was not official and there is no record of a marriage licence.

‘There’s such a thing as a confidential marriage licence, but we’re told they did not get one in LA County,’ claimed the TMZ website. ‘There’s been talk for a long time they might not be legally married.’

Aniston’s camp said rumours she has been in touch with ex-husband Brad Pitt, 54, were ‘complete fabrication’.

Reports emerged that the couple were leading separate lives, with the Friends star, 49, preferring life in Los Angeles, while Theroux, 46, favoured New York. Confirming their break-up, the pair said: ‘We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.

‘Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.’
