Tinseltown too fake for Mark Wright

MARK WRIGHT has explained why he quit Hollywood to return home to wife Michelle Keegan.
The Essex lad had landed his dream job as a presenter on US show Extra but couldn’t stomach another lonely ‘vegan meal and gym session’ while his mates played football.
The 32-year-old host of The Bachelor told GP: ‘I just got to a point where I didn’t want to do it any more. Every time I thought about my future, my heart kept drawing me back to the UK.
‘My wife is based here. Unless we were both going to move there for good I needed to come back. The travelling was getting too much. I wanted to get my teeth back into English TV. Offers were coming in quite frequently and I was having to turn them down.’
And Hollywood is not all it’s cracked up to be, said the ex-Towie star. ‘It can get lonely. It’s a big place. It’s hard to make good friends.
‘Everyone is chasing the same dream. There’s a lack of realness to it.
‘How long do you need to chase that dream? I am one of the most driven maniacs I know when it comes to work and chasing dreams but I was like, “I am going to home. I’d rather have that than what this could be”.
‘Saturdays were the worst. I’d wake up at 8am — 4pm English time — and my boys’ group were pinging on WhatsApp. They’d be down the pub or just finishing a game for a team I set up.
‘[They] would be with their wives having Chinese takeaways and watching The X Factor… things I missed. With Michelle, I missed our house, dinners at home and walking the dogs. They mean so much.
‘I am back for good and loving every minute of it,’ said Wright, who wants to savour time with his wife before he and the Our Girl star, 31, start a clan.
‘I want a family one day, not right now,’ he added. ‘We are enjoying the world together and chasing our dreams.’
The Bachelor starts at 10pm tonight on Channel 5.
■ BOOZE was to blame for Mark Wright posing on the piste in his pants. Explaining the cheeky pic, he said: ‘It was freezing. I had a drink, so it was a bit stupid and dangerous. I was like, “Let’s video me skiing. It will be funny and cool.” When I got to the bottom, my wife took a picture. I thought it’d cause a stir. It certainly did that.’
