The world’s gone bananaz, claims Gorillaz’ Albarn

BLUR frontman Damon Albarn thinks the election of Donald Trump means the world has gone ‘f***ing nuts’.

The comments came in an interview with Q magazine about his first Gorillaz album in six years, for which he reunited with artist Jamie Hewlett.

The 49-year-old pop singer said: ‘The three tenets for this record were pain, joy, urgency. I told everyone to imagine you’re in America after the inauguration and it’s the worst case scenario: how would you feel that night? Let’s make a record about the world going f***ing nuts.’

But the album, called Humanz, almost never came about after he was upset when the virtual band’s co-creator Hewlett, also 49, dropped out of an operatic project and moved to Paris.

‘There was a fallow period in our relationship,’ he said.
