The other Parton sister: Just who is Celebrity MasterChef’s Stella?

DOLLY PARTON’S sister has been announced as a contestant in the new series of Celebrity MasterChef — but who exactly is she and does she have what it takes in the kitchen?
Turns out Stella Parton — who is three years Dolly’s junior — is herself an award-winning country and gospel singer and songwriter.
Her biggest hit was 1975’s I Want to Hold You In My Dreams Tonight, which peaked at number nine, and in 2016 she released a tribute album to her sister, called Mountain Songbird, which featured a track the pair wrote together, titled More Power To Ya.
And Stella has also appeared in numerous touring Broadway musicals and on film and TV — including a memorable performance in The Dukes Of Hazzard, when she played a woman pretending to be a police officer trying to settle a score with a prisoner that Bo and Luke were transporting to stand trial.
But how does all this perpare Parton to slug it out over a hot stove with the likes of Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, The Saturdays’ Frankie Bridge, Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard and The Only Way Is Essex’s Gemma Collins?
Well, Stella might have the edge, actually, having published three cookbooks and appeared on cooking programmes in the US.
One of her books, State Fairs And Church Bazaars, includes instructions for making popular southern US states dishes, so hopefully we can look forward to seeing her whip up some finger-licking good fare.
The new series of Celebrity MasterChef will air on BBC One in the summer
