Susanna Reid shuts down Piers Morgan’s bikini request

SUSANNA REID has put the kibosh on ever presenting the show in her swimming smalls after her co-presenter Piers Morgan made the cheeky suggestion.
The Good Morning Britain presenter also said she’d developed a ‘newfound respect’ for her Piers’ real-life wife — writer Celia Walden — for ‘putting up with’ him.
Long-suffering Susanna, who frequently has to manage Piers’ controversial outbursts on the morning TV show, made her comments to ITV’s Lorraine today — just moments after Piers tried to get her to present the breakfast programme in a bikini.
‘This morning he decided he was going to try and get me to present the programme in a bikini tomorrow — I’d just like to say categorically you will never see that happen,’ Susanna told Lorraine.
And she didn’t back-pedal — or should that be backstroke? —when Lorraine said a swimwear segment might make a lot of viewers ‘very happy’.
‘It wouldn’t make me happy,’ said Susanna. ‘It’s not going to happen, I can rule that out right now.’

Speaking about her errant co-presenter, she said: ‘The chemistry somehow works… I’m not really quite sure why.
‘But, I have a newfound respect for Piers’ actual wife, because I have to play his TV wife three mornings a week.
‘People say, “How do you put up with him?” and I say, “Think of Celia. Just think of Celia.” All hail the queen of tolerance and patience.’
Reid went on Lorraine this morning to promote ITV’s 1 Million Minutes campaign, which aims to encourage people to spend time with anyone lonely over the festive season — and she couldn’t resist joking that a sponsored one million minutes of silence from Piers might be a great fundraising strategy.
‘Can you imagine? That would be incredible,’ she said.
