Susanna Reid catches Geri ‘throwing shade’ at the Spice Girls

SUSANNA Reid was on forensic form this morning when she thought she heard Geri Horner dissing her former Spice Girls bandmates.
Geri was on the Good Morning Britain couch today talking about the prospect of a reunion when the awkward moment occurred.
‘Last year I so wanted it to happen, because it was the anniversary, and a few of us were really pushing for it,’ Geri told Susanna and her co-host Ben Shephard.
‘And then it didn’t, so I sort of let it go a little bit.’

But sharp-eared Susanna clearly wanted to get to the bottom of exactly who put the kibosh on a reunion for the 20th anniversary of their first single Wannabe, asking: ‘There is obviously a sticking point somewhere, someone saying this can’t happen?’
Geri replied diplomatically, saying: ‘To get five people to agree all at the same time… even if you’ve got five really nice people… to say you all like the same colour, it’s hard.’
But Susanna pounced on that, querying her turn of phrase: ‘That is throwing shade… “even if you’ve got five really nice people”?’
Geri hastily cut in with: ‘No, they are really nice, that’s what I’m saying.’
She added: ‘I love the girls, and I’m really grateful for the fans and the music.’

Geri also admitted that it would be hard for her and the girls to top their ‘moment’ in the spotlight — performing at the Olympics closing ceremony in London in 2012.
She said after that ‘everyone took a break’, adding: ‘It’s quite a moment, it’s hard. How do you top that?’
Geri and bandmates Emma Bunton and Mel B did try to go it alone in 2016, unveiling a website titled The Spice Girls: GEM (the first letters of their names) and teasing upcoming new music.
But the threepiece never released anything after Geri announced she was pregnant with her second child, by hubby Formula One boss Christian Horner.
