Strictly’s Anton: My fear is that I won’t be asked Beke

STRICTLY veteran Anton du Beke has admitted he ‘doesn’t know’ if he will be invited back this year.

The professional dancer has appeared on the BBC’s hit show since it began in 2004 but is unsure whether he will make the cut for the next series because he has not yet started contractual discussions with the producers.

‘You can never take anything for granted,’ Anton said on ITV’s Lorraine yesterday. ‘I feel the same every year after the series has finished. We don’t really know what’s going on. The one thing you do know immediately with a phone call is whether you’re not going to be asked back — that’s a phone call you dread and never want.’

The 51-year-old is devastated that his friend Brendan Cole, 41 — who joined Strictly Come Dancing at the same time — has been axed.

‘I was heartbroken for him, for me a little bit as well,’ he said. ‘I’m going to miss him enormously.’
