Star Bebe Rexha on her celeb crush and keeping gran happy
BEBE REXHA says she and Chris Martin would be sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G if she had her wicked way.
The Me, Myself & I singer couldn’t help but talk about her crush on the single Coldplay frontman during an exclusive catch-up with Guilty Pleasures.
‘Chris Martin is soooo hot,’ the 27-year-old guest judge on Pitch Battle, confessed. ‘He’s cute, first of all, but second of all I’m a big fan of his music and what I’m learning is it’s not all about looks. It’s about personality.’
And she doesn’t mind the fact Martin is older than her. ‘He doesn’t look 40, and that’s the main thing,’ she said.
Martin — who spent time on a beach with a mystery brunette at the weekend — might find Bebe’s sexiness a bit ‘in your face’ but she tries to keep a lid on that.
Speaking ahead of the finale of Pitch Battle, with Kelis and Gareth Malone, she said: ‘We have a rule that if my grandmother can’t watch my music video, then it can’t come out. My dad is sometimes not happy with it but as long as I don’t flunk the grandmother rule, it’s OK.’
But being sexy doesn’t mean Bebe doesn’t count herself a feminist. The pop babe, who is on Louis Tomlinson’s new track, Back To You, said: ‘I don’t ever dress up sexy for men. If I want to wear something hot, I will.’
As for being out there in her videos — and using the odd four-letter word in her songs — Bebe explained: ‘Girls like that: someone who says, “This is who I am, I’m a strong woman, I did it the right way.” I write my own songs, no one’s sitting there creating a pop chick. They need to know they can do it too and that anything is possible.’
