Salma Hayek’s mariachi prank

SALMA HAYEK had a little fun at her producer’s expense when she was made to work on her 50th birthday.
The actress celebrated the milestone while filming Beatriz At Dinner last September, and she was not best pleased about the situation.
‘I was really whining that I had to work on my 50th birthday,’ she said on US show Good Morning America.
‘I mean, I was grateful that I’m still working at 50 — because that’s a miracle in my profession — but I was like, “Really? It’s my huge party, I don’t wanna be late for that!”‘
But it turned out her employers had a suprise in store for the Mexican actress — they’d booked a mariachi band.
Not everyone was sure this was a great idea, however, and when Salma got wind of the fact one producer was worried it might not be politically correct, she decided to have some fun.
‘I called her up in my trailer and I said, “Listen, thank you for the gesture, but mariachi? Really? What’s for lunch? Tacos? That’s a little bit racist!” She was terrified!’
Salma quickly put the producer out of their misery, though, saying: ‘Nah, I’m just kidding!’
Beatriz At Dinner is out in cinemas in the US this Friday and will be released in the UK later this year
