Russell Brand’s mum in hit and run

RUSSELL Brand has postponed a gig to rush to the side of his mother after she was involved in a hit and run crash.
The comic is currently touring his Re:Birth show and was due to perform in Aberdeen last night, but the gig was called off due to a ‘personal emergency’.
Russell’s 71-year-old mother Barbara Brand was travelling in the back of her son’s chauffeur-driven Audi A8 when it collided with a Vauxhall Astra near Brentwood, Essex, yesterday morning at 11.40am, according to The Sun.
Both she and the chauffeur were hurt and taken to hospital for treatment, but Essex Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.
They added that the driver of the Astra had fled the scene and officers were still searching for him.
Pictures at the scene showed damage to the front of both cars, with Russell’s mum’s vehicle ending up on a tree-lined verge while the Astra had come to a stop blocking both lanes.
The theatre where Brand was due to perform issued the following statement and moved to reassure disappointed fans: ‘Due to a personal emergency Russell’s promoters regrettably announce the postponement of Russell’s tour date at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen.
‘Please keep hold of your tickets. Tickets holders will be contacted about the rescheduling of the show very soon.
‘We realise this will cause huge disappointment but we will do everything we can to reschedule the date and will be in touch with you soon.’
