Rihanna falls victim to ‘whiting up’ trolls
RIHANNA has been targeted by trolls who reckon she’d be ‘prettier’ if she were white.
Pictures of the Barbadian beauty have been altered to lighten her skin and posted on Twitter with captions such as: ‘Rihanna would look so much more pretty if she was white.’
While it is possible that some of these posters are merely pointing up the racism that many black women encounter on a daily basis, other Twitter posters have been quick to condemn their actions.
One wrote pithily in response: ‘…and you’d look so much better if you deactivated your account’.
Others pointed out Rihanna wouldn’t even have the same features if she were Caucasian.
Still others poked fun at the trolls with matching Britney Spears images.
The Work singer herself has not commented on the debacle — but then she’s probably too busy with her new make-up line, which, like her entire Fenty range, has been created ‘for women of all shades, personalities, attitudes, cultures, and races’.
