MATTHEW RHYS had to wear a prosthetic penis for his latest role on Girls — but he was comfortable enough with his masculinity to leave choosing its size to the experts.

The Americans actor needed to wear the fake appendage during a graphic exchange with show-creator Lena Dunham.

But as the faux member needed to be ‘semi erect’, Matthew felt picking one out should be a matter for professionals.

‘They kindly offered, and I said, “No, thank you. You choose,”‘ he told Vulture.

And it’s just as well Matthew did as, ‘It’s actually very hard to find a not-fully-erect dildo,’ according to director Richard Shepard.

They managed it eventually, however, by approaching a medical supply company.

And Matthew was ‘fine’ with the result, joking: ‘It wasn’t the one used by Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights!’
