Rating success for return of Peter Kay’s Car Share

PETER KAY’S Car Share has been welcomed back with open arms to become highest-rated show of Tuesday night.
It has been two years since Kay’s sitcom first aired, with his alter-ego John Redmond and Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) returning as car sharing supermarket colleagues who enjoy witty conversation while listening to fictional radio station Forever FM.
The programme’s second series debut on BBC One was the highest-rated programme of the night across all terrestrial channels with an average of 6.4 million people tuning during the half-hour broadcast, with a peak of 6.5 million, according to overnight data.
Viewers were delighted to see Manchester-based John reunite with his trusty Fiat 500L, although now that Kayleigh has moved across the city their banter occurred over the phone as they no longer travel to work together.
The entire series is now available on iPlayer, and some fans have already indulged in all four episodes.
But four is not enough according to some.
‘4 episodes of Carshare is not enough. I have watched them all already! It can’t end that way,’ one Car Share lover wrote on Twitter, while another posted: ‘Watched them all on iPlayer tonight bloody fantastic stuff … need more Carshare.’
