Radio gaga! Music’s not about what women want, raps Jay Z

JAY Z has savaged radio bosses for chasing the money and only playing music for ‘young white females’.
The hip hop superstar, 47, said it was ‘crazy’ that reggae legend Bob Marley wouldn’t even make the cut these days as he blasted modern radio as ‘pretty much an advertisement model’.
‘You take these pop stations. They’re reaching 18 to 34 young white females, so they’re playing music based on those tastes.
‘They’re taking those numbers and going to advertising agencies. People are paying numbers based on the audience they have. These places are not even based on music,’ he added.
‘Their playlists are not based on music,’ the star, who is expecting twins with wife Beyoncé, told Frank Ocean on Apple Music, adding: ‘A person like Bob Marley, right now, probably wouldn’t play on the pop station, which is crazy.
‘It’s not even about the DJ discovering what music is best,’ he blasted.
Jay Z is expected to be announced as V Festival’s headline act today.
