Radio fans reckon Ed Sheeran has the Perfect song

ED Sheeran’s Perfect has been voted the number one song of all time, knocking George Michael’s Careless Whisper off the top spot.

The singer said he had ‘wanted to write the best love song I could’ and was ‘over the moon’ it had won the hearts of Smooth Radio listeners.

His Thinking Out Loud track was fifth while Careless Whisper, last year’s winner, came second. Another George Michael song, A Different Corner, was third with I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston fourth in the poll.

Smooth Radio played all 500 top choices over the holiday weekend.

■ ED SHEERAN hasn’t looked back since packing in his cigarette habit. Celebrations were in order for the singer as he marked his fag-free anniversary. ‘One year being a non smoker today,’ the 27-year-old beamed on Instagram. Bet you’ve never been Happier, Ed.
