Peter Kay’s Car Share makes a welcome comeback

PETER KAY has surprised fans by announcing a charity screening of new Car Share episodes — just three months after axing his tour.
The 44-year-old funnyman was forced to call off his first live tour in eight years in December, due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.
But today Kay took to his official account, tweeting: ‘Exciting news: A charity screening of new Peter Kay’s Car Share episodes will be held at Blackpool Opera House on Saturday 7th April.’
The second series of Car Share ended on an emotional cliffhanger last year as John (Kay) failed to reciprocate the advances of his car-share colleague Kayleigh (Sian Gibson).
And fans of the programme were dismayed when Kay announced that he had no plans to appear in a further series.
But the comic later announced special episodes — a special finale to reveal what happens next for the pair and an entirely improvised episode, Car Share: Unscripted. Both hotly-anticipated shows were filmed last year.
Fans reacted to the news with enthusiasm, with one tweeting: ‘This is surely going to break the internet!’ while another wrote, ‘So you’re alive then?!’ — referencing rumours that the comic has been ill.
Others speculated about whether Kay would be at the screening, while one wit pointed out that it was an appropriate time of year for Kay’s ‘resurrection’.
‘Welcome back, Peter, and what a welcome after recent rumours, mind you it is Easterx,’ they wrote.
