Peter Dinklage’s patter makes sure missus matters

PETER DINKLAGE ensured he did not end up in the doghouse as he picked up yet another Emmy award.

The Game of Thrones star completely overlooked wife Erica Schmidt when he won the supporting actor in a drama series gong three years ago.

But he didn’t repeat the gaffe when he lifted the trophy yet again on Monday.

The 49-year-old, who plays Tyrion Lannister in the hit drama, grovelled: ‘Thank you, Erica, for putting up with me. I’m very temperamental and I love you very much.’

And he revealed he was gutted to be saying goodbye to his TV family when filming wrapped up in July.

‘It was an enormous family to be a part of. I’m sure you’ve heard that before,’ he said. ‘I live in New York and we shot the show in Europe. It was definitely hard to say goodbye, because it wasn’t just saying goodbye to the show, I was saying goodbye to a life over there.’
