Olly Murs: On teaming Up with troubled Demi Lovato

OLLY MURS says his dream of cracking the US charts crashed and burned when beleaguered pop star Demi Lovato bailed on him.
Things were looking on the Up across the pond when Olly recorded his 2014 duet with Demi, who is currently recovering from a drug overdose.
Explaining why he is happy it didn’t work out, he said: ‘I had a good crack at it. I had success there with Troublemaker and we were just about to release Up over there.’ He said he and Demi had a couple of performances booked in America, but ‘unfortunately Demi couldn’t make the dates that we had and killed the momentum of what I was doing over there’.
However, Olly added: ‘I am really happy being in the UK and doing my thing here. It gives me a chance to have a bit of normality when I go to America, I quite like it. It’s probably one of the only places in the world where I can go.
‘I do get recognised, but nowhere like the level I do over here. It would be incredible to have a No.1 record in the Billboard charts but, at the same time, I quite like the idea of going to LA for a couple of weeks’ holiday and no one cares who I am.’
