Mimi’s £3.5m for 10-minute New Year gig

A £3.5MILLION pay day for ten minutes’ work sounds like a perfect way to get the new year off to a great start.
But all Mariah Carey wanted to see in 2018 with was a hot cup of tea.
The singer made a triumphant return to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve concert in Times Square on Sunday, 12 months to the day since her last festive performance in the Big Apple was blighted by technical glitches.
Warming her cockles in a plunging jewelled see-through frock and white fur coat, the pop diva impressively warbled her way through just two songs, Vision of Love and Hero, during the show.
And, while she didn’t have to endure a repeat of last year’s humiliation, Carey told fans waiting in icy -12C temperatures it was still tough going.
‘They told me there would be hot tea,’ she moaned. ‘I’m gonna be just like everybody else with no hot tea. We’ll just have to rough it.’

After picking up her whopping pay cheque, Mimi later looked content as she posed with a hot cuppa for a picture in her hotel suite.
Her relief was in stark contrast to last year’s set, when she was left rambling excuses on stage as her rendition of Emotions went badly awry.
On that night, before storming off stage, she told the crowd: ‘We didn’t have a (sound) check for this song, so we’ll just say it went to No.1 and that’s what it is, okay?’
Christmas is a lucrative time for the US singer, as her hit All I Want For Christmas is an annual feature in the festive charts, banking her an estimated £376,000 in royalties a year.
