Michael Fassbender: ‘My own life is for me’

MICHAEL FASSBENDER’S new film might have audiences loudly screaming but you won’t hear a peep out of him — at least when it comes to his personal life.
The 40-year-old actor, whose girlfriend is Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander, 28, explained why he values their privacy before he stepped out last night for the world premiere of Alien: Covenant.
‘It’s effective for me as an actor because I want to be able to disappear into the characters I play,’ Fassbender said in an interview with Australia’s Stellar. ‘I don’t want the audience to be distracted by whatever else is seen of me in the real world.
‘I would consider myself a private person. I work in a medium where we rely on the public to go see it, but my own life is for me.’
The German-Irish star was joined at the premiere in London’s Leicester Square by director Sir Ridley Scott and co-stars Katherine Waterston and Billy Crudup.
A sequel to 2012’s Prometheus, Alien: Covenant will be released in cinemas next Thursday.
