MIA: Why do I have to justify my opinions?

MIA feels she has to fight for her right to express opinions while anonymous trolls can just lash out willy-nilly.

The British rapper, who grew up in the hardship of the Sri Lankan war before arriving in London as a ten-year-old refugee with her family, has been outspoken in the past about immigration and politics.

But as the 43-year-old exclusively told Guilty Pleasures: ‘For some reason society wants me to prove why I’ve got to this point as a musician — “Why do you get to say stuff about something?” I have to prove it. A lot of people don’t. Especially now with social media, anyone can have an opinion about anything and be a troll.’
