Ronson: Making my Mark is a dream come true

MARK RONSON says he ‘never’ dreamt he’d be walking round an after-party holding an Oscar with his name on it.
The superstar producer’s career hit a new high when he bagged the gong for A Star Is Born track, Shallow, last month — and he says the success is beyond his wildest dream.
In an exclusive interview with Guilty Pleasures, the 43-year-old detailed what happened moments after he and Lady Gaga landed their gongs.
‘I was excited enough just to win a Grammy. The fact that it’s the Oscars, it’s such a huge achievement,’ he said.
‘The really cool thing is they give it to you (the Oscar) the same night, which is not like any other award. You go and get it engraved on the spot.
‘You are just walking around with this giant gold statue. It was pretty exciting.’
Ronson — the man behind Amy Winehouse’s hit Back To Black — also shared his hot list of new collaborators as he spilled exclusive details about his first album in four years, which is called Late Night Feelings.
After already gifting fans a taster with his and Miley Cyrus’s hit Nothing Breaks Like A Heart, he shared: ‘It’s a lot of writing songs with people and you get the sense who fits on the record.
‘This record has a very specific theme, so it’s working with people like Lykke Li, Miley Cyrus, Camila Cabello, Alicia Keys and people who fit into the message of the record. I love all those people. They are so talented… some of my favourite artists,’ said Mark, who was at last week’s Global Awards.
‘To have them on my record and to give their talent to it, I am very grateful.’
As for how he chooses who he jumps in the studio with, Mark said: ‘All the people who I work with are legendary in their own way. I think you meet with someone and get the sense, “Can I do something good with them? Can you gel?” If you get in the studio and do something good that’s the plus.’
