Lorde risks reigniting Selena Gomez feud

LORDE has admitted she ‘f***ed up’ after making a ‘really insensitive’ comment — just one week after saying she ‘sucked’ at being famous.
The Royals singer — whose new album Melodrama was released last week — got into trouble when she was trying to describe what it’s like being bezzies with someone as famous as Taylor Swift.

‘It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together, certain things you can’t do,’ she told The Guardian.
‘There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an auto-immune disease.’
But one reader objected to the analogy, pointing out that another of Taylor’s ‘squad’ — Selena Gomez, with whom Lorde has had a rocky relationship — actually has an auto-immune disease, Lupus.
‘I wonder how @selenagomez feels about this,’ the Twitter-user posted. ‘What an incredibly ignorant analogy to make @lorde.’

However, Lorde was swift to respond with an apology.
‘Didn’t mention taylor,’ she tweeted, ‘but regardless, i f***ed up & that was really insensitive. i’m sorry.’
Not everyone agreed that Lorde owed anyone an apology, however.
One Twitter-user wrote: ‘Oh please, I’ve dealt with Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis for 24 years. There was nothing wrong with what she said.’
Another pointed out: ‘It[‘s] just [a] metaphor.’
But not everyone was so forgiving.
‘As a chronically ill fan, this broke my heart a little,’ wrote one, before extending Lorde the benefit of the doubt, saying, ‘maybe it was said differently than it reads?’
