Kit Harrington: My ancestor sat on the throne but I am not posh

HE may be screen royalty and the son of a real-life baronet, but GoT star Kit Harington is ‘not a posh boy.’

The TV hunk, whose dad Sir David Richard Harington is a descendant of King Charles II, is ‘proud’ of his family’s history but is far from privileged. ‘I went to state school. My parents weren’t wealthy,’ the actor, aka Jon Snow, said.

Kit, 30, engaged to actress Rose Leslie (who grew up in Lickleyhead Castle) told the Radio Times posh was an ‘outdated term’ and admitted it was hard to become famous without privilege.

‘The wealth gap affects this industry as much as any other. If I hadn’t got a job out of drama school, I’d be screwed. My parents couldn’t have supported me,’ said Kit, who is to star in drama Gunpowder.
