Kit Harington: Fame of Thrones set me up for a fantasy life

KIT HARINGTON’s Game of Thrones fame was a real game-changer, as the star explained how the top role gave him his wife and a great life.
The shaggy-haired Brit turned emotional as the hit fantasy-world show landed the outstanding drama series prize at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards in LA on Monday.
Backstage at the Nokia Theatre, the Londoner, 31, shared his gratitude, saying: ‘I met my wife in the show, so in that way it gave me my future family and my life from here on out.’

Kit, who plays Jon Snow, was referring to former co-star Rose Leslie, who played his on-screen lover Ygritte. The couple wed in real life at her family’s estate in Wardhill Castle, Aberdeenshire, earlier this year.
Kit added: ‘That’s the main thing it did for me… it’s changed my life completely in the last ten years.’
Now a household name, and famed for his raucous drunken nights out away from the show, Harington insisted: ‘You cannot ask for a better job in your 20s, than to be an actor in Game of Thrones. It’s been the most amazing thing. It’s changed it (my life) completely.’
Brit co-star Emilia Clarke couldn’t agree more. She said playing ‘Mother of Dragons’ Daenerys Targaryen in the hit Sky Atlantic series gave her her wings.
It also helped the pair, and co-star Peter Dinklage, rank among Hollywood’s top paid TV stars.
The trio each bank a reported $500,000 (£372,820) per episode.
Summing up the impact GoT, which will air its much-anticipated season eight finale next year, has had on her life, Emilia, also 31, joked: ‘Really similar… apart from the wife bit. It’s given me my entire career, my entire life as I know it now, so I genuinely owe it absolutely everything.
‘It’s changed everything, so I’m incredibly lucky.’
