Kate Winslet left ‘breathless’ after Allison Janney kiss

NOT everyone gets to meet their heroes, but Kate Winslet got to do rather more with hers after name-checking Allison Janney at the Hollywood Film Awards.
The Titanic star, 42, was picking up the Hollywood actress award for her role in Woody Allen’s Wonder Wheel at the event when she wangled a way to do more than just walk and talk with the West Wing star.
Things got a bit frisky in her acceptance speech, when she name-checked her heroine: ‘Allison Janney is in this room, I know I don’t really know you, but I just want to be you, I do — or just stroke you or something… I mean, we could always kiss, maybe?’
Fortunately, rather than leave Kate hanging, Allison, 57, accepted the offer with alacrity.
She leapt up, jogged over to the podium and gave Winslet a kiss on the lips followed by a hug.
Thanking her as she returned to her seat, Kate admitted: ‘Now I’m a little bit breathless.’
Janney also picked up an award at the event, which was hosted by James Corden. She picked up the supporting actress gong for her role in I, Tonya, while Gary Oldman was honoured with the major prize of the night: the Hollywood career achievement award.
Other winners included Jake Gyllenhaal, Angelina Jolie, Sam Rockwell, Adam Sandler and Mary J Blige, while Amy Adams, Viola Davis, Harrison Ford and Carey Mulligan also made an appearance at the event that’s considered an Oscars forecaster.
Meanwhile, Dustin Hoffman also attended, following his apology last week for inappropriate sexual behaviour while filming Death Of A Salesman in 1985.
