Josh O’Connor, perhaps it’s time to practise what you speech

BAFTA nominee Josh O’Connor is tipped for big things — so he had better start sharpening his speech-making skills.

The British newcomer, up for the EE Rising Star gong on February 18, said winning would leave him ‘overwhelmed’, adding: ‘You’d get a rubbish speech out of me. It would mean a lot but it doesn’t seem like a real thing.’

Josh captured industry attention for his role as a closeted farmer in the drama God’s Own Country. The 27-year-old, who happens to be straight, had no problems shooting sex scenes with co-star Alec Secareanu.

‘When you’ve got two actors that are engaged and willing to listen and are kind to each other and support each other, you can have so much fun,’ Josh told this month’s Gay Times, out now.
