Jeff’s boys give Kate their seal of approval
JEFF Brazier is engaged — and he has the approval of his sons with the late reality TV star Jade Goody.
The TV presenter, 38, proposed to his girlfriend of four years, Kate Dwyer, in Ibiza, after seeking permission from Bobby, 14, and Freddy, 13.
Brazier has raised the boys since the death of Goody from cervical cancer in 2009, at the age of 27.
After seeking their approval for the proposal, Brazier told Hello! magazine that ‘both boys were intrigued by how it would work, how I’d do it’.
‘They said, “What will you do, dad, if she says no?” I said, “I don’t want to be complacent, but I think we’re all right”.’
At next summer’s wedding, his sons will both stand beside Brazier as his best men: ‘It means a lot to me, for them to be such a huge part of the wedding.’
The couple plan to marry ‘somewhere hot’.
Brazier got down on one knee as the couple walked out to the end of a jetty in Ibiza and sat on a wall that formed a harbour for local fishing boats.
‘I told her I loved her, and had been thinking about this for a while. I pulled the box with the ring out from my back pocket and asked if she would marry me. It was a very special moment,’ he told the magazine.
His fiancee Dwyer said it was ‘all a bit of a blur’.
‘He gave me a kiss, and as soon as I saw the box I lost it. I’ve thought about this moment my whole life and you don’t know how you’ll react. But I was overwhelmed,’ she said.
