James McAvoy: X-pert booking scam nearly cost me £10K

IT WAS X-Men versus conmen when James McAvoy managed to dodge a £10,000 holiday resort booking scam.

The 39-year-old Professor X actor — who has son Brendan, eight, with estranged wife Anne-Marie Duff — has told fans how he was taken in by a fake website for a Spanish hotel while trying to book a family holiday.

In a video posted to Instagram, he said: ‘They nearly took 10 grand off me, [I] nearly made a bank transfer. It was very convincing.’

Luckily, the former Shameless star double-checked with a travel agent before parting with his cash and has alerted the hotel to the swindle.
