James Blunt takes self-parody to new heights

NOBODY mocks James Blunt as well as the man himself, so it’s no surprise that he’s turned to self-parody to plug his new album.
The You’re Beautiful singer — whose latest offering, The Afterlove, is out today — took to Twitter this morning with a simple tweet, which read: ‘The first step is admitting it’.
Underneath, he posted a spoof video featuring fans who struggle to admit they like his music — which musos often dismiss as middle of the road.
After one ‘fan’ can’t get the words out for an agonisingly long time, Blunt suddenly appears, reassuring her: ‘It’s okay, Claire, we’re all James Blunt fans here.’
The video is the latest in a long line of self-mocking tweets from the popular singer.
On December 13 last year he posted: ‘If you thought 2016 was bad — I’m releasing an album in 2017.’
And he’s a big fan of retweeting critics’ words alongside his own self-deprecating one liners.
Take this one, where some wag tweeted: ‘There’s a “best of” James Blunt? Really?’
To which James zapped back: ‘Yup, it’s called “Greatest Hit”.’
