Jameela’s in a good place now she has cracked LA…

FORMER Radio 1 star Jameela Jamil is having the last laugh after cheekily cracking the US — despite being warned she was ‘too old, too ethnic and too fat’ to make it in Hollywood.
The 32-year-old presenter, from Hampstead, north London, is currently riding high in Tinseltown starring opposite Kristen Bell and Ted Danson in sitcom The Good Place.
Sharing how she pulled off her move to Los Angeles, the actress said: ‘I was literally starting again and was actively discouraged by everyone in England.
‘Everyone said I was being mad, throwing away an eight-year career, and that I was too old — I was only 29 — too ethnic and too fat to come over to Los Angeles.’
However, the former T4 presenter had faith in her own savvy streak, and has admitted she told a little white lie to bag her TV role as a rich British philanthropist called Tahani Al-Jamil.
Jamil confessed: ‘I lied in my audition. I said I’d mostly done theatre because it’s harder to track down.’
Speaking to Radio 5 Live, she added: ‘Technically, it’s not a lie because, when I was six, I played Oliver’s mother in my school play. I was creative with the truth.’
She recently branded Kim Kardashian ‘toxic’ for promoting a dieting lollipop but she has sympathy for the reality TV star. ‘She’s not a bad person. Some (celebrities) have tried everything to achieve this archetype of perfection and are themselves victims,’ she added.
