Is Idris Elba manny enough for the role?

IDRIS Elba may have made a name for himself playing tough guys — think Stringer Bell in The Wire, Pentecost in Pacific Rim, Heimdall in Thor — but his latest role might just bring out his feminine side.
The Luther star is set to play a ‘manny’ in new Netflix comedy Turn Up Charlie.
The show, announced today by Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos, will also showcase Idris’s other talent — DJing — as he plays a struggling DJ and bachelor who reluctantly becomes a male nanny to his famous best friend’s tearaway daughter.
In fact, Idris started his career spinning tracks under the name Big Driis, and still takes the opportunity to hit the decks from time to time.
Last year he DJed at Ibiza nightclub Pacha and in London and New York, while this year he plans to play festivals in Dublin and London, as well as a show in Croatia.
Let’s hope Idris’s DJ skills give him some street cred with the wild child daughter in Turn Up Charlie — otherwise he’ll need to deploy some of those tough guy skills after all.
