I’m allergic, says Jonathan Rhys Meyers

TUDORS star Jonathan Rhys Meyers insists his drunken airport meltdown earlier this month was an allergic reaction, not alcoholism.

‘I actually don’t like the taste of alcohol,’ said the 41-year-old, given a dressing-down by police at LA airport after a row with his wife Mara Lane.

‘I don’t suffer from alcoholism — I suffer from an allergy to alcohol every time I drink it.

‘When I drink, the consequences are so devastating that it is a problem. But I never need a drink.’
