How Ice Cube got his cool name

RAPPER Ice Cube revealed the funny story behind how he came by his chilly moniker.

It’s all down to his attempts to make small talk with his brother Clyde’s girlfriends when he was a kid, apparently.

Speaking on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he said his sibling was none too happy with his interference, so Clyde said: ‘Yo, that refrigerator down the street? I’m gonna take you down there, I’m slammin’ you in the freezer and when they pull you out you’re gonna be an ice cube.’

Now that’s cold.

But Ice Cube seemed fairly chilled about it all as he went on to give his host his own hip-hop handle: Daddy Colbert.
