How Biffy Clyro frontman avoids hangovers

BIFFY CLYRO frontman Simon Neil has That Golden Rule of his own to survive the party season — tequila.
The 38-year-old Scottish rocker shared his, probably ill-advised, drinking strategy as the band prepare to kick off MTV Music Week with a gig days before the MTV EMAs touch down in London.
Speaking exclusively to Guilty Pleasures, Neil explained: ‘All I do is drink tequila, that’s the only drink I drink. Shenanigans happen almost immediately. My personal best is three quarters of a bottle of tequila and I made a fool out of myself.’
He said tequila doesn’t make everyone happy though, namely his missus. ‘My wife was p***ed off at me and I woke up the next day fresh as a daisy and she was furious. She wanted me to have the hangover of all hangovers to punish me.’
As for the band’s MTV show at the Roundhouse — which will be a special one off MTV Unplugged performance — the singer says it’s a rare moment to follow in their idol Nirvana’s footsteps. ‘MTV Unplugged made such a huge impact on us growing up,’ he said.
‘I went and bought Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged before school. We learned the whole thing and did all the chatting in between as well!’
MTV Music Week takes over London from November 8 to 11. Other events include a revival of Yo! MTV Raps: LDN Presented By Charlie Sloth + Special Guests. Music Week ambassadors Tinie Tempah, Becca Dudley and Jonas Blue will also appear. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday at 9am.
