Honey G’s homophobia fears

X FACTOR star Honey G says she feared a homophobic backlash if she declared herself gay on the ITV show.
The wannabe rapper, real name Anna Gilford, officially came out in an interview for this morning’s The Sun newspaper — and that wasn’t all she revealed, daringly stripping down to her smalls for a candid photoshoot.
Speaking to the paper, she said: ‘I have dabbled with men before, but I’m gay and looking for a female partner.’
But she ‘wasn’t ready to come out to the public’ when appearing on The X Factor because she feared it would affect her popularity.

‘Obviously I get worried about homophobia because there are a lot of homophobic people out there,’ she admitted.
‘They might not like it, so I was worried about that.’
But the X Factor star says she found a champion in her mentor Sharon Osbourne, who stepped in to say something ‘hilarious’ about her own sexuality whenever it looked like Honey G’s secret might get out.
