Dave Grohl didn’t have Nirv for music when pal Kurt Cobain took his own life

DAVE GROHL admits he couldn’t listen to any music following Kurt Cobain’s death.
The ex-Nirvana drummer even found it difficult to turn on the radio after Cobain took his own life, aged 27, in April 1994.
‘I went through a really dark period… it just broke my heart to hear music,’ he said. ‘When most people think about Nirvana they think about a video or a song. To me it was a really personal experience with friends who went from sleeping on floors to being a No.1 band.’
The Foo Fighters frontman also felt insecure about his songwriting skills, despite penning some Nirvana hits. ‘I was in a band with the greatest songwriters of our generation,’ Grohl, 49, told CBS’s Sunday Morning show. ‘I didn’t think I was a songwriter, so kept it to myself.’
