George Ezra on failing his friends — and his attempts to be more rock’n’roll

HE MAY be winning in the charts, but George Ezra says he is failing in his bid to become a moody music star.
The Shotgun singer also admitted that his success is his friends’ loss as he tries to make his image come across as a tad more rock ’n’ roll.
Speaking on Tuesday night, when he played at Absolute Radio’s tenth birthday party in London, Ezra said: ‘I’m not joking, I do it at every single gig. Before you see me go on tonight, I’ll be stern and stoic. And then the lights, I walk on stage, and “Oh!” It’s like an old friend.’
Now the 25-year-old is busy trying to transfer his fame across the pond. ‘You know, it’s brilliant, but it catches up with you,’ he said of his success. ‘I think the trick is just not to stop. I’ve actually had a few friends’ weddings and stuff that I’ve had to turn down.’
