George Clooney’s doggy donation

GEORGE and Amal Clooney have proved themselves to be truly pawsome human beings after it was revealed they had made a sizeable donation to a dog rescue organisation.

The movie star and his wife, who are expecting twins later this year, initially made the $10,000 (£7,715) pledge anonymously after hearing about the plight of nine dogs rescued from a backyard breeder.

But the Clooneys generously agreed to waive their anonymity in a bid to encourage matching donations, a post on the Camp Cocker Rescue Facebook page revealed.

‘Are you ready for some BIG TIME news?’ the Californian dog charity wrote. ‘Some generous donors heard about the plight of the nine new dogs we just took in from the backyard breeder and they wanted to lend a paw.

‘After we all did happy dances and cried with happiness for this unbelievable matching donation offer — we then asked the donors if (and only if they gave us their permission) … if we could reveal their names.

‘They were so very gracious to give us permission to reveal their names.

‘We want to thank George and Amal Clooney for their unbelievable donation and now it’s time to turn to all of YOU to see if you can match it!!!!’

Clooney fans couldn’t contain their admiration, with one posting: ‘OMG!!!! My love for George, (O.K. and Amal), just skyrocketed.’

Another wrote: ‘Wow — the Clooneys are awesome — big {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}} for both of them.’

Camp Cocker founder Cathy Stanley told People magazine the Clooney’s cash would go towards ‘vet and boarding bills’ for the dogs, many of which had ‘never been to a vet in their entire lives’.

‘They all needed blood work done, deep ear cleanings, some had wounds where their nails had grown around into the pads of their feet,’ she said.

‘They all needed baths/grooming, many had matted hair that needed to be shaved down.’

This isn’t the Clooney’s first involvement with the rescue organisation. George adopted Einstein from Camp Cocker back in 2010, because he ‘liked the goofy look of him’, Stanley said.
