Five fast ones: Heather Baron-Gracie

GP checks in with Pale Waves singer Heather Baron-Gracie, 24, about supermodels, her scary style and séances. The band — completed by Ciara Doran, Charlie Wood and Hugo Silvani — play London’s Heaven on May 24. They’ll also appear at Live at Leeds and Standon Calling festivals this summer.
You recently won the Under The Radar trophy at the NME Awards. What was the highlight of your evening?
The supermodel Naomi Campbell was on our table, which was pretty insane. She spoke to us for quite a bit. She thought we were really young and was asking where our parents were [laughs].
How did you choose the band’s name?
We did have another name — Creek — but that was only for two or three months. I was just looking through my grandma’s drawings and there was a painting that inspired the name.
Who is on your wish list to work with?
Madonna — I love her — and Taylor Swift, because she can write some absolute bangers.
How would you describe your unique look?
I don’t really have any defining words but I like it when people call me a vampire!
Have you ever had a supernatural experience?
A friend and I once tried to talk to the dead. I felt something touch me and I ran out of the house — but I’m not sure if it was all in my head.
