Engaged Love Island pair insist ‘we’re not rushing things’

LOVE ISLAND couple Jessica Shears and Dom Lever have got engaged just three months after meeting on the ITV2 reality show — but neither thinks they’re rushing things.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Jessica said she understood why people might think that, ‘but it feels like I’ve known Dom a lifetime’.
Dom agreed, admitting that he would have judged other people for getting engaged so soon, but saying their time on the show ‘cemented’ his feelings for her.
He added: ‘After the first week of being back in the UK, I knew I was going to marry her.
‘As far as I’m concerned, when you know something is right, why wait?’
Jessica, meanwhile, described ‘grinning like a Cheshire Cat’ when Dom surprised her with the proposal.
‘It happened the night before the TV Choice Awards [held on September 4]. We were staying in a lovely apartment in London. Dom had filled it with flowers and had got us a bottle of champagne.
‘I was doing a Snapchat video saying how lucky I felt when he called me out onto the terrace.
‘I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat when Dom got down on one knee — he said afterwards that he has never seen me smile like that!’
Despite the brevity of their relationship, the pair has already weathered spending time apart — when Jessica was eliminated from the show — and rumours that she cheated with fellow Love Islander Mike Thalassitis. She moved in with Dom last week.
