Emily Blunt is in spit spot form as Mary Poppins

EMILY BLUNT is practically perfect in every way in footage from the much-anticipated Mary Poppins sequel.

But the English actress is doing her best to play down comparisons with Julie Andrews, who portrayed the iconic nanny in the classic 1964 film.

‘I watched about 15 minutes of the original and then stopped because I needed to pay homage to what Julie did but carve out new space for myself,’ said Blunt.

‘No one is ever going to out-Julie Julie Andrews, she’s unbelievable. I just had to do my version of her.’

Blunt, 34, told fans at Disney’s D23 expo in Anaheim, California, her Mary will be a ‘little more odd and vain’ like the character in PL Travers book.

Mary Poppins Returns will be in cinemas next year — let’s hope it’s super(califragilisticexpialidocious).
