Em hits the right note as she lets down her La La Land prom date

EMMA STONE sadly won’t be accompanying a 17-year-old superfan who recreated the start of her musical La La Land to invite her to his high school prom.

The Oscar-winner, 28, let Jacob Staudenmaier down gently after his ‘prom-posal’ broke the internet last week.

Aspiring filmmaker Jacob, who said people mistake him for Stone’s co-star Ryan Gosling, told Good Morning America she declined his invitation in a sweet handwritten note.

‘I can’t tell you what an honour it was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video,’ she wrote, ‘I’m in London working but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I’m grateful you thought of me. Thank you.’

Stone added: ‘P.S. I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love, Emma.’
