Eddie Vedder: Paul McCartney punched me

THERE can’t be many people who can say they’ve been hit by Paul McCartney — but Eddie Vedder is one of them.
Speaking during a recent guest spot on SiriusXM’s new The Beatles Channel, the Pearl Jam frontman recalled how the incident came about.

‘He kind of was illustrating how he hit this guy, and when he did that he kind of shot out his left arm as if he was hitting this guy and I was standing there, and I got hit,’ said Eddie.
‘He hit me! He didn’t quite pull back the punch you see… As I was listening I was thinking, Paul McCartney just hit me in the face and it hurt.
‘I think I remember tasting a bit of blood, he got me right on the side.’
Vedder added that Macca was quick to apologise, but he was in pain for days afterwards.
It didn’t seem to put him off The Beatles’ music, though, as he happily covered Here Comes the Sun at two London gigs last week.
