Danny O’Donoghue: It’s time to rewrite The Script after love split

DANNY O’DONOGHUE plans to ‘recycle the pain’ of his bitter love split on The Script’s next album.
After four years with Sports Illustrated model Anne De Paula, the former coach on The Voice finally called it a day in September,
Now Danny says he needs to heal himself through music but admits he is relishing his single status. The towering Irishman told Guilty Pleasures: ‘Yeah, absolutely, me being freshly single again is playing into the music.
‘The good thing about a break-up, especially in the UK, is the papers love it. So, for me, it was like a £3million advertisement that I’m single again!’ Joking aside, the Superheroes singer shared how he is coping without the 23-year-old Brazilian beauty, who starred in the band’s video No Good In Goodbye.
‘I class myself as someone who recycles pain, I recycle pain and turmoil,’ said Danny, 38.
‘That’s what an artist is. I turn it into art. It’s important.’
Speaking about the band’s next record, which follows their 2017 album Freedom Child, he added: ‘It’s just really honest. We never say we’re going to have this type of album or that type. This year has been a hell of a year for us, personally and professionally. So what you’ll get is an outwards look on an inwards vibe instead of trying to write the songs that change the world, as we have in the past.
‘You’ve got to try and write stuff that heals yourself first. Instead of looking outwards, you’ve got to try and look inwards.’
Danny’s break-up came to light when his sister Andi blasted De Paula online for posting sexy selfies and hinting that she already had a new fella.
