Chris Evans’s wife reduced to tears on her labour day
CHRIS EVANS raced to be by his heavily pregnant wife’s side after the pair conducted an emotional conversation on his radio show on the day of her induction.
The BBC Radio 2 host — who recently announced he would be stepping down from the show to return to Virgin — couldn’t stop smiling as he left the studio for the hospital where partner Natasha Shishmanian is expecting twins.
But before he did, the expectant mum was reduced to sobs as the pair shared how they were feeling with listeners.
Things started off well as Chris joked: ‘Hello, Tash, so you’ve called in to see how I am? I’m fine thanks. I’m not terribly nervous.’
Asking how she was feeling now the big day had arrived, she said: ‘I feel like I’m in control today, I’m pumped, I’m ready, let’s do this.’
Before admitting: ‘Yesterday I was a bit of an emotional wreck, it was very overwhelming yesterday. There’s a lot of love and support and I’m very grateful, but it was like, “Oh my god, this is actually happening.”‘
Chris confirmed Tash’s emotions had run the full gamut, saying: ‘In the same half-hour yesterday, my wife thought I was the most funny I’ve ever been since she met me, then the least funny I’ve ever been. In the same half an hour!’
That might be at least partly due to the fact he wasn’t exactly fulfilling his dad duties, by leaving all their old baby stuff in storage until the last minute.
‘I was imagining the day before to be very tranquil, just the four of us together — but instead the house was turned into absolute chaos,’ revealed Tash.
And she couldn’t keep it together, bursting into tears when Chris’s producer wished her luck and love from the show’s listeners.
‘There she goes again,’ Chris joked.
The DJ announced on air in April that he and his wife were expecting twins after undergoing fertility treatment.
‘We’ve known for a while, obviously. She’s definitely the mother, there’s no doubt about that,’ he quipped.
Chris and Tash are already parents to Noah, nine, and Eli, six, while the DJ has a daughter — Jade, 31 — from a former relationship.
