Cate Blanchett keeps her compass where?!
CATE BLANCHETT has joked about keeping her moral compass in a rather intimate place — and called Oscars bosses a ‘bunch of duffers’.
The Lord Of The Rings star was on jesting form as she took to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, describing last week’s disastrous Oscars mix-up as ‘like being married to the wrong person’.
She then joked that accidentally awarding best picture to La La Land not Moonlight played into the hands of those who believe Hollywood is a clueless cultural elite.
‘They kind of handed it to the administration on Sunday night, the bunch of duffers,’ she said wryly.
Later, the chat took a philosophical turn as Cate discussed her debut Broadway show, an update of Chekhov’s The Present.
‘It’s all about, as you move forward in life, what’s your moral compass, where does kindness and humanity sit in a really brutal world?’ she posed.
But Cate couldn’t resist bringing things back to basics when Colbert asked where her own moral compass lay.
‘It’s in my vagina,’ she joked.
Colbert didn’t look like he’d been expecting that response.
