Buffy creator Joss Whedon’s wife roasts him for ‘hypocrisy’

JOSS WHEDON’S ex wife has slammed the Buffy creator for ‘hypocrisy’ and claims he is far from being the ‘lovable geek-feminist’ he might seem.
In a blog post for The Wrap yesterday, Kai Cole, who was married to The Avengers director for 16 years, broke her silence about his ‘multiple affairs’ and accused him of ‘preaching feminist ideals, while at the same time, taking away my right to make choices’.
She claims that Whedon had his first affair on the set of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and that he admitted as much, saying in a letter to her: ‘When I was running, I was surrounded by beautiful, needy, aggressive young women… Suddenly I am a powerful producer and the world is laid out at my feet.’
Cole also said that, as their marriage crumbled, Whedon admitted: ‘As a guilty man, I knew the only way to hide was to act as though I were righteous.’
Whedon is much admired for creating strong female characters such as Buffy, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Eliza Dushku’s Echo in Dollhouse.
A spokesperson for Joss Whedon said of Cole’s post: ‘While this account includes inaccuracies and misrepresentations which can be harmful to their family, Joss is not commenting, out of concern for his children and out of respect for his ex-wife.’
