Brit Riz Ahmed beats big boys to win Emmy

HE may have made history but Brit actor Riz Ahmed revealed his parents missed his big win… as they were sleeping.

The star of crime drama The Night Of became the first Muslim to scoop the outstanding lead actor gong, beating screen giants Robert De Niro, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ewan McGregor to the prize.

But the 34-year-old star explained members of his British-Pakistani family, who live in Wembley, north London, missed the moment.

‘By the time all the parties will be wrapping up, I think my parents and family will be awake in London. So I’ll FaceTime them. They’re all asleep right now,’ he said.
